It doesn't help that of all the DC-area sports places, it's gone through the
most (branded) name changes.
It also doesn't help that there was a Capital Centre (which was close to where
the NFL now-Commanders play) back in the day, and the Wizards left there to
what is now Capitol One.

Either way, the venue is the closest major space to the Mall and the Capitol,
and not far from the usual parade route.

David Bruggeman, to Kevin M and moi, Jan 17th:

Capital One is where the NBA Wizards play.  Capacity can't be much more than
20,000.
In 2009 it was 28 degrees at noon on January 20.  Just sayin'  This isn't
likely to be the 7 degrees of 1985.  (insert hell freezing over jokes here).

Sadly, no repeats of the 1841 Inauguration either.
