CBS News was not even a little bit wrong. Nobody should be fired, nobody needs to apologize.
CBS May end up firing, apologizing, and pain only because they fear probably correctly, that Trump will hold up the sale if they don’t. It’s a shakedown. The network said that there was no deception involved, and that the edit was made in the interest of time, a routine practice in broadcast news.
