This is a shameful shakedown by a sitting US President, and all too common instance of core American institutions bowing down to the tyrant, either out of greed or fear. We are dealing with the same thing where I work (under threat from Depts of Education and HSS). It does hurt more when the institutions we specifically count on to stand up to and hold government accountable bend over (I know, the legacy journalistic institutions lost their core identity and integrity some time ago, but still, it burns).
