So far it has been CBS executives wielding the axe, attempting to appease the unappeasable. The administration hasn’t had to do a thing.
To paraphrase the fictional news series written by Aaron Sorkin, ratings can shield a show (or a host) from direct attacks. As long as Colbert or even Stewart have the numbers, CBS won’t want to risk them switching to another network if they were fired. Frankly, not enough people care about network news to raise a stink about it. Kevin M.
