One of the things I felt was lacking was the same thing I felt was lacking
from the Obama administration: Outrage.

They tried to crucify him. They tried to set aside 250 years of legally
allowed freedom to crucify him. I’m not even a fan of Kimmel and it
infuriated me. It makes sense to me that progressives are generally thought
to be kinder and more forgiving than conservatives, but this administration
applied political force on a comic. There is no legal justification for
that.

One of the other things that was missing: a specific call to action.

This was an opportunity to say “Write your representatives” or “reach out
to the advertisers who supported the censorship” or “we ride at dawn.” But
nothing.

Kimmel himself said this wasn’t about him, but he had an opportunity to
spark a response, not as a politician, but as a citizen who suffered abuse
at the hands of his government. And that’s a lost opportunity. And
progressives are running out of opportunities.
