TV AZTECA SELECTS PANAMSAT FOR INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION
TOP MEXICAN PROGRAMMER TURNS TO PANAMSAT FOR LATIN AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN
DISTRIBUTION OF AZTECA INTERNACIONAL CHANNEL
GUADALAJARA, MEXICO, April 28, 2005 -- PanAmSat de México, S. de R.L. de
C.V., a joint venture formed by PanAmSat and Corporativo W. S. A. de
C.V. owned by Alejandro Burillo Azcárraga (Grupo Pegaso), today
announced that TV Azteca, a leading Mexican broadcaster, has chosen
PanAmSat’s PAS-9 Atlantic Ocean Region satellite to distribute its
international channel, Azteca Internacional, to cable operators
throughout Latin America and Europe.
“PanAmSat is the recognized leader in the distribution of video content
worldwide, and most especially in Latin America. Our cable distribution
platforms on PAS-3 and PAS-9 distribute more than 250 television
channels, reaching every cable operator in the region,” said Carmen
González-Sanfeliu, vice president of Latin America Operations for
PanAmSat. “The PAS-9 line-up has 100 percent cable penetration in the
Latin America region. With this kind of penetration and coverage, no
other satellite operator can offer customers such as TV Azteca a cable
neighborhood of this quality.”
TV Azteca, a TV ratings leader in Mexico, will uplink to PAS-9 to
deliver its Spanish–language programming throughout Latin America and
Europe. Its top-quality lineup includes entertainment and reality shows,
news, sports programs in addition to its well-known novelas.

PAS-9, a Boeing 601 HP model satellite employing 24 C-band and 24
Ku-band transponders, operates at 58 degrees west longitude. The
satellite serves many of the world’s most prominent international
broadcasters including the United Kingdom’s BBC, China’s CCTV, Germany’s
Deutsche Welle, Japan’s NHK, Arabic channels supplied by the ART Group
and a bouquet of channels from media conglomerates such as FOX, Claxson,
ESPN, Hallmark, HBO, Viacom and Discovery Networks.
