Platform
HD-PRIME AMC-10 satellite provides G4 with enhanced reach and
reliability across U.S.
PRINCETON, NJ – July 19, 2005 – With videogames blurring the lines
between reality and make believe and driving an entertainment genre that
is more popular than ever, SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext
Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), today announced G4 –
videogame tv - has selected its AMC-10 satellite for primary programming
distribution in North America.
G4, the only 24/7 television network dedicated to bringing the videogame
experience to enthusiasts, has tapped the reach and reliability of SES
AMERICOM’s spacecraft to deliver a broad range of programming to a
growing and evolving audience nationwide. The AMC-10 satellite, one of
two advanced birds supporting the HD-PRIME™ cable neighborhood, reaches
every cable headend in the U.S.
“G4 has a technically savvy and demanding audience, and as we continue
to offer programming over new, non-traditional platforms to serve
viewers wherever they are, it is critical that we have the right
distribution partner to deliver on our mission,” said Rob Hause, vice
president of broadcast operations for G4. “The AMC-10 satellite is
playing a critical role in the efficient delivery of the G4 network with
its reach into every cable system. We’re confident we’ve secured a path
for future growth based on our agreement with SES AMERICOM.”
“G4 has its finger firmly on the pulse of the videogame world and its
trends and innovative technologies. Its videogame network is must-watch
television for a fast growing audience of videogame enthusiasts,” said
Carl Capista, vice president of North American media services for SES
AMERICOM. “SES AMERICOM’s AMC-10 satellite is an advanced distribution
platform, providing the power, coverage and penetration to reach G4
viewers wherever they are today and well into the future.”
The HD-PRIMETM Satellites
AMC-10 and AMC-11 are all C-band satellites, which operate from 135 and
131 degrees west longitude, respectively. Launched in 2004, the two
A2100 spacecraft, built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems,
have been optimized for next-generation programming services, including
high-definition channels. Each of the 24 transponders is supported by a
20 watt SSPA, delivering almost a 20% increase in power over their
predecessors.
