The countdown progressed pretty well till the T-5 min hold when a second
stage engine ordnance arming issue cropped up and a issue with the
command receiver decoders when the range safety system was switching
between internal and external power. A hold was issued to the end of the
34 minute window to resolve the issues which were at the end of the window.
The issues were resolved and count resumed for a launch at 7:06pm EDT
but at T-4:22 there was a hold issued resulting in a scrub for the day,
the issue this time was a alarm indicated the voltage reading from a
battery supporting telemetry relay from the second stage dropped below
normal levels.
At this point it is not decided when the next launch attempt can be
made. Another factor is after today the next launch attempt would be
around October 8 because of the seasonal eclipse period would limit the
sunlight to the solar panels keeping the batteries charged enough during
the orbit-raising maneuvers and check out. Officials said that actually
last Sunday was the last acceptable day for launching but was extended,
so the Boeing GOES team will be reviewing weather another attempt can be
made soon.
