Something seems weird here. Wasn't Anik F-1 just launched about 4 years ago? It was a Boeing bird and was advertised as one of the most powerful commercial satellites available. Then came Anik F-2 last fall.
Ku signals from Anik F-1 are so powerful (star choice) that one can pick up signals as far south as Honduras, Central America with a 75 cm dish, something you can not to with DISH or DirecTV.
