Gemstar Names New COO

Gemstar-TV Guide International said Thursday that it has named Mike
McKee as chief operating officer of the company and president of the
company's interactive program guides operation.

Reporting to Gemstar CEO Rich Battista, Mr. McKee in his role as COO
will assist in operating the company, with specific responsibility for
human resources, facilities, data solutions and information technology.
As president of the company's IPG unit, he will oversee Gemstar's cable
and satellite IPG business and its consumer electronics division.
Previously Mr. McKee was COO of the company's international
consumer-electronics division, responsible for incorporating the IPG
technology into consumer electronics products worldwide. He joined
Gemstar in 1997 as president of the Superstar/Netlink Group, which
provided programming to households with C-band satellite dishes.
