I didn't get the feeling that classicsat was attacking
Dishnut. He was lashing out at the TV technology
article...rightfully. The C band and KU band
satellite spectrum won't go away. The internet is not
a broadcast friendly technology. It transmits data
point to point. There is no way to economically get a
high quality TV signal to the entire US other than by
satellite. The transmission medium will go from
analog to digital, and some will go from MPEG 2 to
MPEG 4 but the big dish will always be able to pick up
those signals. Anyone who wants to spend the time and
money to keep their big dish in working condition will
always have something to watch. I have the 922 4d
receiver. It hasn't set the dish world on fire, but
the system is great. The pictures are fantastic and
the price has dropped to about $ 440. I also have a
DVB receiver. Lots of "Free to Air" signals there.
Lots more than I would ever want to watch. As Mark
Twain said, "The rumors of my death have been greatly
exaggerated."
