Launch is scheduled for 5:48 p.m. EDT. Spacecraft Separation is approximately 9 hours, 11 minutes after liftoff HOT BIRD 8, built by EADS Astrium, Toulouse, France, is a Eurostar E3000 platform, all Ku-band communications satellite with 64 active transponders serving cable and satellite homes in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, including Russia and Kazakhstan. HOT BIRD 8 will be located at 13 degrees east longitude. Satellite Broadcast coverage: IA-6 (Telstar 6) at 93°W, transponder 11 C-Band (3920 V) analog Test signals begin about 5 p.m. EDT.
