Hi John,

Nice to hear from you. Yeah a lot sure has changed... So many NEW Sats... I'm
thinking of going with a new Motorola DSR922. I found one for $549.95. It
doesn't come with a digicipher. But since I'm only planning on free to view,
would I still have to buy one...? Bob gave me a really good, less expensive way
to go with a Travis DBS 3500 and using an old c band receiver to move my
dish... Sure would be a lot less expensive.

All the best,

dRAt

  Hi Mybones
Welcome back to C-Band. Everything is still there,
except it is digital. DVB receiver will bring in a
bunch of channels. The problem is that some of the
popular channels aren't available to the back yard
dish. Obvious example: ESPN. The kids at National
Programming Service have a solution in the pipeline
that will take a few months to flesh out. It is some
kind of IPTV that is used by rural electric
cooperative head ends for small cable systems. There
  aren't many details available.

Oh, since you left, Echostar Charlie has started doing
everything he can to kill off c-band. We don't meed
  more enemies.
