Most DVB receivers have a IF loop. Meaning, you hook your incoming cable from
the dish to the DVB receivers sat in, and loop it from the IF out to the analog
receiver. If you want to watch analog you turn the DVB receiver off. If you
want to watch digital your turn the analog receiver off. All you need is a
short RG6 jumper cable.
Now move the dish with the analog receiver to the satellite you want to see.
Either receiver will get programming from that satellite. To have C-band and
Ku-band reception, your dish has to be configured for both! The DVB receiver
alone does not give you Ku-band.

Subject: [TVRO] need help hooking up analog and dvb receiver

  Hi everyone

I have had a 10 foot dish for 20 years now with a StarTrak Eight
analog receiver. I got a ST-9900 DVB receiver last year. I want to
hook up the DVB receiver so that it can automatically switch from Ku
to C band. I use the analog receiver to move the dish. I know I need a
diseqc switch. I was wondering if any of you have a preference as to
what brand to buy or not to buy. The same with the cables. Also step
by step instructions on how to hook it up would be very much
appreciated as well. I have heard that if you do it wrong you could
fry out some things. Thanks in advance.
