Unless you are planning on modifying the FTA reciever to obtain
illegal/scrambled broadcasts, then any FTA receiver would do just fine since
there would be no descrambling necessary. The older reliable units such as
the Fortec Lifetime Ultra is what I have (two of them) and htey are still
going strong after about 4 years of use. One of the really nice features of
the thing is the "blind scan" capabilities. It allows you to set it on a
satellite and then scan for active transponders followed by active channels
on the transponders. It remembers those as well.

Mpeg KU digital isn't as easy as the analog Ku was. On analog each channel
has a specific frequency. On digital Ku, you have transponders which are
not standard frequencies and if you don't have a feature that will "find"
the SR and FEC automatically - you may never get anything on it.

I recommend some older but reliable units which can be had for a very cheap
price. Also, be sure you are either hooking this to a C/Ku dish or you will
need to have at least a 31 inch dish. Anything smaller will not produce
enough signal to see anything anyway. also, be sure if you get a package
off ebay, it comes with a linear LNB. Many people are selling units
modified for dishnet and those usually come with 18 inch dish with a
circular LNB. Won't be of any use to you at all.
