Hi, Since you have mentioned oracle as your interest .i assume you want to have career in database technologies ; There are basically three categories in databases career
*Data base application Programmer * for this you need to hone your skills in SQL and PL/SQL and understand the basics of data modelling. *Database Administration *: For this you need to have good understanding of architecture of database and hands on experience on database tools and also good working knowledge of operating system . This is can be achieved after you work for couple of years in industry. Third is* Data warehousing and Business intelligence *: for this you need to have strong SQL and PL/SQL programming experience with good hands on experience in on any of the reporting tools For all the mentioned tracks you can use open source products like *postgreSQL, SQLlite,MySQL for databases* ,*BIRT for reporting.* Thanks Sridhar Reddy .
