The strict answer is neither - Linux was an independently written kernel. But it's origins owe a lot more to BSD than SysV is my understanding.
If you go beyond the kernel and into the Linux system, then you are even more into BSD territory. Some of the tools, daemons etc. are ports of BSD tools and some are GNU rewrites. As SysV was copyright restricted and never entirely freed by AT&T, any SysV like tools were definitely rewrites (ex: bash which was originally a bourne shell replacement but has morphed into much more).
