Hi: Here is some piece of information that may be useful for those who may face the problem of clearing the Bios boot password on IBM ThinkCentre machines.
The password is *not* stored in NVRAM / CMOS. Hence removing the battery will not help at all. You need to locate the CMOS recovery jumper and then move it to the maintenance configuration. Restart the computer and leave it on for atleast 20 seconds and then switch it off. Restore the jumper configuration and power on the machine. The discussion and details are available at http://www.applefritter.com/node/10567 and http://www.tech-faq.com/reset-bios-password.shtml and http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-51025 That's some learning after 4 hours of effort ! Phew ! Hope it helps the members troubleshoot the situation in future. thanks Saifi. ===================================================== To know more about TWINCLING Society http://www.twincling.org/ OpenSSL - PKI & Digital Certificates Mark your calendar for the TSM Saturday 5pm on 15th July 2006 ===================================================== Yahoo!
