Hi all:
Tech Review has an interesting interview with Bjarne Stroustroup, creator of
C++.
The interview is titled "More Trouble with Programming".
Here are few nuggets from the interview -
1. Many industrial grade applications have been developed in C++
2. AOP has not addressed the issues
3. Programming is a skilled task and skills are important.
4. C++ shows that a deliberately evolutionary approach can produce something
new
--even without significant corporate support.
5. Damning older code as "legacy" and recommending "just rewrite it"
as a strategy simply isn't good enough.
6. A major issue in language evolution is control of its direction.
7. .Net is a huge integrated system backed by Microsoft.
That's its major advantage and "biggest" disadvantage !
