Hello Sujata: Here are some points that you may want to consider for the discussion topic:
--------------------------------------- If there is any rallying cry, it is for developing great Open Source software ! The Open Source community would like to see - 1. hardware specs which are accessible (cf. Adaptec vs Theo do Raadt) 2. source level contributions instead of binary blobs from companies (cf. nVidia) 3. no software patents, since copyright is sufficient (cf. FAT patent) 4. end of life for hardware, when the user discards it as against 'no support anymore'. 5. continuous innovation in os, desktop and connectivity applications. In the final analysis, the evolution of a parallel eco system is an indicator of the things to come ! There are many companies that develop proprietary software and continue to be appreciative of the Open Source vision and work with the community. Belkin, Realtek, Trolltech etc. have shown the road ahead ! --------------------------------------- thanks Saifi.
