Hi Naren,

According to this document 
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-8.0-Manual/install-guide/s1-upgrade-lilo.html#S2-UPGD-X86-BOOTLOADER-SMP-LILO

The SMP kernels makes use of all the processors(2 in your case) while the 
non-SMP kernel runs with only one processor.
It is just for safety that the non-SMP option is present.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

When we install linux on Dual core processor, we get two kernels loaded.



One with smp and the other one is a normal kernel.



what is the exact difference between these two?
