What I meant to say was that you let a ping command keep running
in one of the terminal windows.
Now you connect to the VPN server.
Then you go about doing your tasks.
With this scenario in place, do you see a disconnection ?

Yes Saifi, it still gets disconnected after 19min
I kept pinging the server with an interval of 10sec(ping -i 10 vpn.ttu.edu)
If it helps, I am pasting the /var/log/syslog contents from the time of
connection to disconnection.
