Hi, Its always suggested to install windows first and then Linux as Windows Boot Loader doesn't know about Linux but Linux GRUB boot loader knows about Windows.
So once Windows is installed and you are installing Linux, the Boot Loader will even pick up the Windows boot information. While installing you can even specify to which OS it should go after the time out of selecting the OS. Windows can have more than one partition. These partitions are shown as NTFS or FAT* file systems on Linux. Defragmentation is partition based. You can save some space by defragmenting. You need not restart from the scratch. You can actually install it on the left over space. While installing, use the "Manual Partition" or "Create custom Layout" option instead of choosing "Automatic configuration" or "Remove and create new lauout". Be careful at this point of installation or you will lose all your data on the disk. A good place to see the installation procedure is: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/ Thanks, Narender Rao
