I agree, it is annoying. Your best option is a dual-boot.

Linux can be the primary OS, XP can be your time-pass OS.

If the pointless footprint of Windows bugs you, try:

SDHC cards get cheaper everyday.

You can then transfer the browser profiles (FF3RC1) and you are set.
