Is this openSUSE 10.2? IIRC, userdir is broken in 10.2, due to SuSe specific config problem. Do a grep of "userdir" in all the apache config files under /etc/. You will notice that the string occurs in 2 different files. You will have to hand edit the 2 files and turn userdir on. The Yast GUI configurator touches only one of the 2 files. IMO, to become a good sys admin, you will have to become familiar with the .conf files and *not* rely on GUI tools. > also suse certification costs how much ?
