Hello No, you don't need a complete disk to use linux. You can use a partition of the disk. First thing you need to do is choose the right distribution for yourself. I personally believe that Mandriva and openSuSe are the best most easily configurable and easy to ones. Ubuntu is always best for starters. I can write a long step by step procedure to install Linux on your computer, which will probably only confuse you. The best thing that you can do is use youtube. There are many step by step how to install linux videos on youtube. Try it out. Be careful about the partitioning. If you don't know how do, just post it here.
