Hi: While working to repro scenarios faced by the engg team, i tried installing couple of packages using YasT eg. MySQL, VirtualBox etc.
An interesting observation was that the software present in the DVD was being downloaded from the online repository. Thus each package installation would take time. A closer investigation in the entries in YaST --> Software Repositories showed: Priority Enabled Name URL Default Y OpenSuSe DVD 11.0 ... 120 Y Updates for 11.0 ... 120 Y openSuSe-11.0-Oss ... The parameter of importance is 'Priority'. The range is 0 (max) - 99 (min), whereas the default is 99. Changing 120 to 99 for updates and Oss solved the problem.
