Hi Manohar, You should always take up a topic which interests you. To start with take out the latest IEEE or ACM paper in the field and go through it. The references page in that paper provides many other papers. Go through all those papers and then you will get a new idea or some other theory to be drawn from that paper. Go ahead, speak to your HOD and professors, you might get good info and they may help you.
