I subscribe to MTNL TriBand DSL service in Mumbai and have gone through 2 DLink 502 modems between April 2005 and now. I suspect your modem is on it's way out. The 1st DLink modem simply went dead, the 2nd DLink modem would take anywhere from 6-10 minutes to get logged in (PPPoE login upon reboot). I complained to MTNL and they sent a service engineer and by sheer luck, in front of him it failed to register a new IP in it's NVRAM! It was rented from MTNL so they replaced it w/o charge. > I noted this trend as the modem is powered with a dedicated UPS > unit and hence not subject to power outage. Some one from broadbandforum.in suggested that I should use SMPS but that should not be necessary. > > The device info is as follows: > > Board ID: 96338L-2M-8M > Software Version: 3.08.02.UB.01.14_1357_100807 > Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-10.1 > Firmware Version: UT300R2U.0011.01 > Hardware Version: UT300R2U 2.2 > Model Name: UT300R2U > > Here is an excerpt of the log > > Jan 2 20:30:21 syslog emerg BCM96345 started: > BusyBox v1.00 (2007.10.08-08:31+0000) Hmmm, I have the same modem but is branded by MTNL. The information in the log and it's format look quite different. In your place, I would make a trip to the local BSNL tel. exchange and request a replacement modem if it is rented from them.
