Hi all: openSUSE being a very large project has multiple repositories with clear separation of source, OSS, non-OSS, community managed etc.
for openSUSE 11.1, here are the details: OSS repository http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/oss/ Non-OSS repository http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/non-oss/ Source code OSS http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/11.1/repo/oss/ Additional YAST repositories http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_package_repository Even with all this information, you may still need to search for a package, for example 'mplayer' Just visit http://packages.opensuse-community.org/ and select the version The query becomes http://packages.opensuse-community.org/index.jsp?searchTerm=mplayer&distro=openSUSE_111 And then you have a wonderful list of packages with links to repositories. eg. for Mplayer on a KDE 4.1+ system (typically openSUSE 11.1) the repository is: http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/11.1 Alternatively, one can click on the webinstall icon on the page and Yast installer kicks in. YaST2 is one of the best thought out installers out there with superb dependency resolution and clean installs. Hope this helps. thanks Saifi.
