Hi Alok: Quick With a single track focus on 'Open Source' we reach out to many and are based out of Hyderabad. In future 'Beijing'. Detailed background On the third saturday of December every year, we review the performance and also generally discuss the next year goals. This meet always happens at Eat street, Necklace road, Hyderabad. On 20th Dec 2008, the theme of discussion was "Go big" ! To some extent this was triggered and based on my blog post http://www.twincling.org/blog/2?page=16 Most people (i mean the largest set) know of Twincling through - * Twincling list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/twincling * Twincling Saturday Meets (TSM) held every 2nd Saturday at Hyderbad (thanks to Applabs). * Twincling events (OSEF, OSRU, OSS, OSC) held once a year in Hyderabad. and * Twincling college meets (TCM). However, there are many other things/initiatives at Twincling that need to be fast tracked. * Infrastructure software * Technology creation * Engineering products * Global collaboration * Networking platform * Open Source Entrepreneurship At the core of all these activities was * Where do we want to 'Reach vs Geography' discussion. * What are we seeking 'popularity' vs 'impact' discussion. Given communication facilities and our community building skills we chose 'REACH' and have worked systematically towards it. You can see phase 1 results here http://www.twincling.org/node/473 No matter where you are, if you have a query/problem and the Twincling community solved it or helped you out, then you're happy and we've succeeded. This is the power of REACH ! Regarding geography, Twincling as a "non profit" organization is headquartered in Hyderabad, AP and that will continue to be so. 'Beijing' would be an important addition to geography. We do follow the '800km' or 'overnight' rule though and thats why you may have seen some of us present at Pune event or BarCamp/DevCamp/Cloudcamp Bengaluru. All of the REACH out programs have had positive IMPACT ! Personally, i'm glad that the sincere effort of the team has paid off ! Namita has been very active on this front. To top it off, Engineering @ Twincling has to stay on the edge and continue to have bigger and bigger impact. Global collaboration with * BSD community (D,F,N) * Scala/Lift community * Qt community To get a better perspective on this approach (code named) 'Tiger 1' pleas see http://www.twincling.org/node/472 As you can see, there is a lot of work ahead for Engineering. Btw, do you know which school has been adopted by Twincling ? :-) thanks Saifi.
