Dear Friends,

The talk on 'SCALA programming language' is scheduled for today ie. Saturday,
June 13 at 4:15pm at 3XL conf room, AppLabs.

Abstract
Scala is a blend of object-oriented and functional programming concepts in a
statically typed language.

Conceptualized and Developed by Martin Odersky, who is also creator of Java 5,
Generics and Concurrency in Java.

For the engineer, Scala is developed over Java and thus existing Java libraries
and appservers can be easily used while compiled code runs on the JVM.

For the designer, Scala builds on Functional programming concepts and thus
solutions built from components can scale on multi-core systems.

Scala is best used for developing software components and for creating Domain
Specific languages (DSL).

As an additional point, this is the first of a series of events to promote
Scala and nucleate a Scala community.
