Rhythmbox music player (comes within the Ubuntu package) works just
fine for MP3s if you install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package
(sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras), but Amarok 2.1.1 is
just mind-blowing. To install it, add the line
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu jaunty main
to /etc/apt/sources.list (edit it in superuser mode), run "sudo
apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get install amarok".

I think the ubuntu-restricted-extras package should do for Amarok too.
