and after my opinion it is far the best way to be sure, the threads are places 
in the right layer. The problem appears mostly when working with wool ore/and 
smaller tablets. 

I have been working a lot, and with many tablets - and I always use my finger 
to clear the shed.

To bring more tension on the warp is a bad idea as well- because the thread 
will be cut in the holes of the tablet, and will fray the threads.
