Greetings!

Here are answers to some of the questions.

All of pattern cards are threaded light light dark dark. ABCD doesn't work well
with 3/1 twill, because each card starts in a different position. This is
determined by looking at the first two rows of the pattern. Phiala's article in
TWIST and her website have the best description of how to start weaving 3/1
twill that I've found.

To complete a full pattern repeat takes 72 steps. Because of the alternating
nature of the pattern, there is no twist build up after the full pattern has
been woven. So while there may be twist buildup at 1/3, 1/2, or 2/3 of the way
through, all of it works out on its own by the time all of the pattern is
completed.

The selvedges are turned continuously forward, so as an aid to following the
pattern, I marked the outer selvedge cards with an arrow design. It's 'up'
corresponds with the arrow on the left of the pattern. This allows
'spot-checking' to be sure the the pattern is being followed correctly. When
there was too much twist on the selvedge, they were flipped on their axes
(change from S-Z) when in the 'up' position, and then weaving continued.

I hope this helps with the questions. It is NOT an easy pattern for starting
TW, because it's very different from 4F4B patterns and other doubleface weaves,
too. A good understanding of how the twill structure works can help make this
weaving go better.
