I've just been asked to weave a belt for the norwegian telemark costume( often
locally called the "beltestakk" - which means the "belt costume")
It is woven in english 5 ply thin wool in varying colours, mostly warm reds,
and goes twice around the waist. The end of the warp is used to fasten teh belt
with.
I counted the old belt and found that I need 118 tablets - it is 13
centimetres wide.A link to an example, though even wider:

Iknow that I can weave it wearing a backstrap - but this time, since it's for a
customer I'll put it in my big loom.
I'm so looking forward to doing it! a lot of work it will be, to thread the
tablets, but luckily they are all threaded in pairs - and it's symmetric, so I
can make two pairs ready and lay one aside till I reach the middle.
happy weaving from Liv in Norway.
