This is an awesome Yahoo group! I have already learned so much from lurking about and reading your recent posts and checking out peoples videos and links. This is an impressive bunch!
I recently learned how to make very professional looking felted wool hats for men. When it was suggested that I purchase a nice hatband to embellish it, I thought "Why not learn to weave my own?" This lead to me being gifted an old handmade inkle loom, lots of internet research... and I have just taken my second inkle band off the loom. However, in the process, I found out about tablet weaving. I feel like a junkie jonesing for a fix and I haven't even tried to tablet weave yet! My birthday is coming up this week and I got my partner to pony up for 5 books on tablet weaving and some commercially made cards. I also just sent in my membership to TWIST so I will be able to access the information there soon. At this point, it is all just a honeymoon. I am wide eyed in love and am just oogling photos of your work and dreaming of being able to produce such finery! When the books arrive, I will studiously read each of them... then start trying out the simplier techniques and keep building. I welcome any input along the way. As I am a very visual learner, if there are any other members in northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin who would like to meet for a night of weaving, I'd love to see your work and technique.
