Hi mate
I don't think that we can teach you how to code in css in this thread alone. Your questions however illustrate what you need to learn, and I can point you in the right direction. firstly, forget about less for now, server side/ compiling, everything, just start with the very basics. I have been at css/html for abotu two years and I am only just starting to click. I am sure you can do it a lot quicker if you stick with it. I tend to do atutorial and go off until I have a problem. this is the refrence most people are sent to when they ask the question, 'how do I use css? http://www.w3schools.com/css/ It is a good reference, however I know of a much better one. http://reference.sitepoint.com/css Read this first though/ http://reference.sitepoint.com/css/css Once you have gone through the tutorials, don't worry too muc, or think too hard. Go buy this book: http://books.google.com.au/books/about/Developing_with_Web_Standards.html?id=FnDiWjTrfqwC Have a read through, he lays it out really clearly. 9IIt has really made things click for me, I am sure any good book on the subject will. I think tutorials online alone will only take you so far. Finally, go here: http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/tutorials/complete-websites/twitter-bootstrap-101-introduction/ And learn how to apply it all to bootstrap. There are tonnes of tutorials on css online. Google. Once you understand css, and how it works, take a look at less. That's my advice anyway. Join sitepoint and post css questions there, or any web questions, you will get lots of help. Good luck. http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/
