You should be able to add the grid variables to the variables.less sheet 
and set them. If you look at variables.less and grid.less, you should be 
able to work out how it all fits together. I don't do this myself, but I 
believe the idea of less is you can add your own variables. As long as you 
match the naming conventions, you should be good to go!
