Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. As it stands, as much as I like Font Awesome, I'm not prepared to deal with this level of image degradation. Note that this seems to be an issue with fonts and font-based icons in general (in some browsers and/or OS's). Here's a screencapture from the icon moon website: http://screencast.com/t/OtX0tMh3FhZ. Will look into this issue further and report back here.
