The only way to sort a table differently (without Javascript plugins) would be to refresh the page and have Wordpress order/render the tables in a different order.
As for tablesorter, there may be a conflict of IDs / classnames, missing JS files, or one of many other things. The previous posts mentions it is working for him. If you are having issues and followed the installation instructions completely, you may want to track down how they provide support. But you may want to consider finding something a little newer. The latest change in their changelog is 2.0.3, from 2008-03-17, and mentions "Added support for jQuery 1.2.3" in a previous version. If you are looking to add a new feature to a site, adding something that was made over 5 years ago would not be recommended.
