Alex,
I think the developer driven model that you all have adopted is great.
It's agile in that you let the community create a prioritization of
needs. It gets complicated when you are constrained with resources
(trying to create the API V2, maintain API V1 and ensure the
developers are attended to all at the same time), but you all seem to
manage -- somehow.

So like I said, one aspect of success I'd suggest you express is the
fostering of community participation in crafting the methods and
features of the API.
