Hello, Bumped into this one as well.
I'm afraid no solution but the reason for the error is that the appengine does not allow opening a socket to or access to another host (http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/runtime.html#The_Sandbox) Twitter4J seems to be doing just that when trying to authenticate: at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkConnect(Unknown Source) at java.net.URL.openConnection(Unknown Source) at twitter4j.http.HttpClient.getConnection(HttpClient.java:553) If anyone knows how to get arround this ...
