I'm idly playing around with a Open Source ticket system that communicates via twitter, and was wandering if it was possible to get the ID of my new tweet back when I post an tweet through the API?
http://dev.twitter.com/doc/post/statuses/update seems to indicate you can't? I'm guessing the answer will be "you can't due to how twitter works"? I'm left with searching through the users recent Tweets to find it, which isn't perfect because twitter may do something like change a URL to a bit.ly one, thus making the text change.
