Can anyone think of a good reason for ICS to continue support for old versions of OpenSSL, prior to 1.0.1 when support for TLS 1.1 and 1.2 was introduced?
OpenSSL 1.0.1 (three years ago) added some new API calls relating to these new versions of TLS, and keeping support for older versions would add a little complexity. I'd assume most users what to keep up to date with the latest encryption standards and ciphers and try to use the latest OpenSSL versions. OpenSSL does maintain support for the 0.9.8 and 1.0.0 with security fixes, not sure why.
