Randy -

I am running the lists on Majordomo. It is the same list client that Byard Miller uses for his Virtual Fly Box list. Byard has over 1,000 members on his list, but like ours only a handful are actually regular contributors. The rest deal with the e-mail load using filters, or whatever other way they have chosen. There is no "digest" or "no mail" currently available with Majordomo. Until the developers of the program put those features in for a future upgrade, we've pretty much got what we're gonna get. I realize this is probably clear as mud, but I am no techie either.

At any rate, I am glad you and the others who have hung in during the switch are still here. There will undoubtedly be more fallout. That didn't surprise me, but I felt I needed to give everyone who was signed up a chance to be a part of the new format. I fully understand those who can't stay due to what they think is a heavy e-mail load. Actually, the load isn't nearly as bad as everyone thinks. Wait until winter when nobody can fish and we are getting between 300 & 400 posts per month. :o)

Gary,

The amount of knowledge I have about computers pretty well equals my abilities in Flyfishing. When I first signed up for txwwff, Robin Rhyne was kind enough to take care of everything. I was receiving individual emails much like what is happening presently. I asked him if there was something he could do to limit the number of Emails . . . . . . .. I began receiving all the correspondence in a single email for that day.. . . . a condensed version with everything already opened.

Since you are running your own server does that limit you to a different format than before? Not complaining, just trying to understand. . . . .. It seems that no one is giving you a chance to work the bugs out. . . . . .

By the way Graham, my hat is off to you in coming up with a positive spin to all this.

Randy,

Great! I hope others are doing that too instead of quitting.

Good morning,

Here's a good step by step procedure from the Warmwater Flyfishing List for those of you not on the list and wanting to manager your e-mail.

To everyone that's leaving because of no digest,
(running outlook express anyway)
(It's easier than it looks)(print this email and follow along)

Click on your inbox under folders on the left panel

Click File at the top left corner of the page

Highlight New

Click Folder, a pop up window will come up

Type in " Warmwater Flyfishing "

Click OK, you will get a new folder entitled Warmwater Flyfishing

----------------------- THEN---------------

Click Tools on the top of the page

Highlight Message Rules

Click Mail, a pop up window will come up

(if you don't already have any rules set, you don't need to:) Click New (a pop up will appear)

In box 1, click the box "Where the subject line contains specific words"

In box 2, click the box "Move it to the specified folder"

In box 3, your rule will appear with two highlighted statements, the ones you just checked.
Click on the first one, which should be "specific words". A new pop up will appear.

Type in "Flyfish" (without the quotes)

Click on the second one, which should be "specified". A new pop up will appear.

Click the folder you just created "Warmwater Flyfishing". then click OK.

Box three should then read :
Where the subject line contains FLYFISH
Move it to the Warmwater Flyfishing folder

Click OK and YOUR DONE !

P.S. you may want to also send "WarmwaterAngler" to Warmwater Flyfishing just in case any more old digests come through.

If you send it from the Archive site, it only goes to the person who's post
you are replying to. It is a private e-mail.
