The 16th Asian Symposium on Programming Languages and Systems (APLAS) aims to stimulate programming language research by providing a forum for the presentation of latest results and the exchange of ideas in programming languages and systems. APLAS is based in Asia but is an international forum that serves the worldwide programming languages community. APLAS 2018 will be held in Wellington, New Zealand on the 2nd – 7th December 2018.

See: http://aplas2018.org/posters/

APLAS 2018 will include a poster session during the conference. The poster session aims to give students, researchers and professionals an opportunity to present technical materials to the research community, and to get responses from other researchers in the field.
Scope

Poster contributions are sought in all areas of programming languages and systems, including the following topics:

    Semantics, logics, foundational theory
Design of languages, type systems, and foundational calculi
    Domain-specific languages
    Compilers, interpreters, abstract machines
    Program derivation, synthesis, and transformation
    Program analysis, verification, model-checking
Logic, constraint, probabilistic, and quantum programming
    Software security
    Concurrency and parallelism
Tools and environments for programming and implementation

Submission
----------
Each presenter should submit an extended abstract of no longer than two 8.5×11 inch pages in PDF by email to aplas2...@ecs.vuw.ac.nz with subject “SUBMISSION FOR APLAS2018”. Each submission will be acknowledged by reply email. NOTE: submissions to the Student Research Competition (SRC) below should be indicated clearly in the message body.

The submission should include the title and the complete list of author(s) and affiliation(s). Your abstract should contain a brief description of your problem, the key contributions of your work, how your work compares to prior research, and any results from evaluation. You can use ACM template to format your submission, and the ACM template link is here: https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template.

We hope to accommodate every presentation, but may restrict them (based on relevance and interest to the community) due to space constraints.

This year APLAS will host a Student Research Competition where students can present posters. The Competition consists of three rounds:

* Extended Abstract: Participants submit an extended abstract outlining their research results. Please follow the submission requirements of posters above.

* Poster Session: Based on the abstracts, a panel of judges will select the most promising entrants to participate in the poster session at APLAS. In the poster session, students will have the opportunity to present their work to the judges, who will select three finalists to advance to the next round.

* Presentation: The last round will consist of a short oral presentation at APLAS to compete for the final award.

Note: The student research competition is NOT a part of ACM SRC; The student participant must be the first author or the only author of the submission.
