I'm customizing Scribbish for a theme for my Typo blog. Here's what I
did when I wanted the same thing you do:

In typo/themes/peekle/views/articles/_article.rhtml I changed this block

    Posted by <%= author_link(article) %>
    <abbr class="published" title="<%= article.created_at.xmlschema
%>"><%= js_distance_of_time_in_words_to_now article.created_at
%>

to read

    Posted by <%= author_link(article) %> on
    <abbr class="published" title="<%= article.created_at.xmlschema
%>"><%= article.published_at %>

This results in the kind-of graceless but pretty geeky byline

but I like it.
