FYI $ qemu-system-aarch64 -version QEMU emulator version 2.5.0 (Debian 1:2.5+dfsg-5ubuntu10.36), Copyright (c) 2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard I was using Ubuntu 16.04 shipped QEMU packages.
