Well, isn't this a typical "Don't do that then!" situation? (Cf. http://www.jargon.net/jargonfile/d/Dontdothatthen.html) If this compiler option causes problems (which is IMHO not a surpise at all), then why are you using it? None of the U-Boot build rules contain any such option.
